As promised, here are some of the details from Lauren's fourteenth birthday - Which happened to fall on the opening day of New Moon - how is that for lucky?!
Here is Lolly and her three friends - dressed to nines, lolly in a DRESS (!) and Alice Cullen chocker.
So, I started with the invits - I searched for hours to find a high res image of the movie poster and once found, simple used the twilight font on top of the image to add the invite request, on the back I printed the details of who, what, where and then ran them through a laminator, once they were cool, I trimmed around them, punched a hole and threaded ribbon through to make them all "VIP passes" (which they all wanted to wear to the cinema :) I then embellished to top with a flower, and their initial. Finally, I had spare smaller images so I backed them cardstock, added their name to the back and ran them through the laminator - trimmed around them, punched a hole and added a keyring - making them into little bag tags for their school bags.
Now, as we were going to the movies straight from school, I decided that we better have lolly bags during the movie, I simply collected all sorts of red lollies (red licorice was a must) and placed them in medium sized red organza bags (from the $2 shop) I image searched "twilight labels" in goggle and found these great labels that I resized and attached to the ribbon of the bag using a hole punch. (the girls loved these special treats)
I found great twilight looking labels for the bottles of water here ...http://www.hostessblog.com/2009/04/host-a-twilight-theme-party-at-home/ - that read "drink up" and "I'm thirsty", for small red drinks for later at home, I printed off "type O negative" labels from the same place. (this site was great for inspiration!!) I got the four girls two large boxes of popcorn and let the girls stuff themselves through the movie (not that they did, they were too busy holding hands and sitting of the edge of their seats watching Edward and Jacob :)
As we live a block from a pizza place, I dropped the girls off and let them order a couple of pizzas and walk home, so I could get home and light all the candles I had spread around the dining room (Man of the house generously bravely took the other three ten pin bowling so that Lolly could have the house for her and her friends)
Decorations were simple - I stuck to a red, black and white theme - lot of books and posters(all from lolly's collection) , I printed off 5x7 quotes on photo paper from the site I mentioned earlier and stuck them in black or white frames (that Lolly now has as decoration in her twilight room :) I placed big bowls and vases of apples around the room too = apples are big symbolism in the first movie.
I found twilight party stuff on an online party supply place in Western Australia - it was quick and fast service = the girls there are lovely I was able to get cool souvenir cups (the one with bella and Edward ) which are now in our cup cupboard and rather coveted at dinner time :) - from here... http://www.partyzone.com.au/products.php?cat=114
Candles played a big part in setting the scene - which is kinda funny as bella's party in the movie had candles everywhere too.
Lots of tealights in little jars and I picked up a great set at Kmart - nine candles in jars on a glass mirror for under $10.
I raided the Christmas lights and strung clear fairy lights around the room and around the table.
For the food I stuck with quick and easy - chocolate muffins, chocolate brownies, white snowballs, oreos and red lollies, I made a big bowl of salad to have with the pizza - what made it fun was that we named to food and I made little laminated cards with the names to display on the food platters - such as Volturi Mind Altering bars, Emily's Werewolf Muffins, Rosalie's Smashing Salad etc - The kids thought that was really cool.
For Lauren's cake I decide on Cupcakes - we are so big on cupcakes in our house - a lovely lady I know makes AWESOME die-cut cupcake wrappers, she downloaded the Twilight font I use and cut out the wrappers from red card - they looked so good - except I forgot to get black cupcake cases and the only kind I had at 1am the night before were purple - they were simple butter cakes that I dyed with red food colouring - white frosting and edible red glitter - they tasted great! Kim can create lots of different themes and they are so reasonably priced too - contact her at... rick.kimwood@bigpond.com
Of course, there were plenty of photo ops - Edward was very loved member of the party (*please excuse the mustache and graffiti - Miss 5 got a little creative a few months back!)
and no Twilight party is complete without the "Apple Hands" photo!!
(and a quick change from dress to "normal" lolly clothes - t-shirt and jeans)
Sparklers on the cupcakes for candle time - which led to the girls heading outside in the dark with other 40 odd sparklers for more fun.
For Party Favours I got a great set of four twilight journals from Kmart for $20 in a tin box - I kept the box to store Lauren's Birthday Mini Album in and there was a book for each girl - I just stuck her initial to the front with letter stickers - Lolly has been writing up a storm in hers.
** there was a bonus in having only four girls attend - It meant that they could be little spoilt with the party favours and bags - I like to make trinkety things and it meant I only had to make a few :)
For party bags - they already had the lolly bags from the movie, and in my travels a couple of weeks before (while buying more ink to print out those blasted quotes) I discovered black desk bins for just a $1 each at officeworks - I added their name with letter stickers and printed off Twilight images and the movie title and stuck them around the bin with double sided tape - the girls loved them - one even took hers to school the next day!!
Inside the bin were a few mini chocolates, a few more red lollies and then I spent an evening decorating cheapy stationery with twilight images I had downloaded from a seller on Etsy - I covered a $1 diary for each of them adding their initial and 2010 in letter and number stickers, printed off and laminated thank you bookmarks with twilight images, covered Eclipse mint tins with images I scanned of the journal covers - I thought eclipse lollies were perfect as that is the name of the next book :) I found magnets in a set of 10 on ebay for just $3 and gave each girl one and we added the rest to our fridge door :)
and finally I covered little notebooks (that came in a pack of five for $2) and tied red and back fabric and ribbon across the top.
I did buy a great New moon Party Planner pack on Etsy - that had great games - but the girls weren't interested in playing (maybe it was the age) but here is what it had in it...

SO, all in all, the girls thought the party ROCKED - we did stop the festivities between 7.30 and 8.30 to watch Glee - gotta have your priorities right :) and lolly got to have the party of her dreams! She was given lots of twilight gifts from us, friends and family and got enough $$ to buy the twilight quilt cover set from Spotlight - blasted thing is 25% off tomorrow! Oh well!
back soon with more updates!

PS - we ALL loved the movie - we have been left hanging for June when the third in the saga hits our screens and we are now "team Switzeland" - we are wavering on who we like more Edward or Jacob - both equally yummy!
